Coronavirus Update
Coronavirus update 18th April 2021
During these most unusual and challenging times, we have been heartened by the patience, understanding and support of our residents and their families as we have navigated our way through two lockdowns together.
Thanks to some ingenuity and creative thinking, we have been able to support family and friends to visit throughout the summer of 2020 and all through the winter lockdowns, which has been wonderful morale boost for all. The care and safety of our residents and our staff continues to be of paramount importance and is at the forefront of our minds as we start to welcome our visitors indoors again.

Two family members or friends are permitted to visit indoors, once tested and wearing PPE.
In summer - activities, parties and concerts, held outside in the garden and marquee
Visiting the home
We have plenty of options for family and friends to come and visit their loved ones. The choice of visit depends on where the resident and their visitor would like their visit to take place:
Indoor visiting
Government guidance currently allows 2 visitors inside the care home for a visit. Beforehand visitors are asked to take a covid test and answer some screening questions. During the visit, the visitor wears a mask, apron and gloves. Visitors can come at the same time or at different times.
Indoor COVID-safe visiting room
We have a purpose built, comfortable and cosy visiting room (see picture below). Residents can have family and frinds (including children) to visit and are kept safe from infection by a glass screen. No PPE is required in this room and there is a mirophone to enable clear communication.
Outdoor visiting
In pleasant weather, we have a number of areas for residents and their visitors to sit and enjoy the tranquil gardens and share an afternoon tea. In summer we have a number of marquees/gazebos for those that like to be outside whatever the weather!
Regular visitors can join our staff in being tested three times a week, wearing PPE. We ask all visitors to follow some sensible safety measures:
We are sure you will agree, how important it is that we ensure all the necessary infection controls and visiting procedures are followed when welcoming visitors back to the home.

New Admissions
We are pleased to be able to welcome new residents to The Old Vicarage for both long term residential care and shorter-term holiday breaks. We are proud to be continuing to offer outstanding care, luxurious accommodation, an optional activities programme and a whole home ethos that centres around enabling each person to live life to the full.
To keep everyone safe and to ensure that we continue to keep the home virus-free, we are following current government guidance with regards to new resident admissions. This requires all residents admitted from hospital or the community, will not be able to mix with other residents for the first 14 days following their arrival. Please note that during this time our friendly staff will be in attendance and able to assist and help settle you in. New guests will be allowed to nominate two family members or friends to visit them during this initial 14 day period. New guests will also be able to keep in touch with other family and friends during this time via private telephone and video calling. After 14 days you will be able to join in with normal life and social events within the home and have family and friends visit you in the visiting room or garden, as well as two nominated visitors inside the home.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in contact with us.
