Poppies were the theme for our Arts and Crafts sessions this week. Our talented residents have been creating a lovely selection of artworks for display on Remembrance Sunday, when we will be commemorating our fallen heroes.
We are so pleased to hear the government’s latest announcement allowing visits to care homes to continue during lockdown, as long as COVID-safe facilities are in place. Our new visiting room has been a great success already with an enthusiastic response from families and residents, one of our family visitors said “It’s wonderful! So cosy and comfortable and with excellent sound. It’s just like having coffee with mum in the lounge”. It is heart-warming for the team at The Old Vicarage to continue to welcome family and friends while keeping the home and our residents safe. Residents and staff have lined up to visit this fascinating exhibition, hosted by one of our residents, of her childhood memories living in a Japanese civilian camp in Shanghai during the second world war years. A lady with a remarkable story to share.
